Consistent

Always behaving or happening in a similarespecially positive, way: Not changing. In agreement with other facts or with typical or previous behavior, or having the same principles as something else: Agreeing. Always happening or behaving in a similar way: Not varying. (Cambridge Dictionary)

I recently read this: It's hard to be consistent because we tend to focus on the outcome more than the process. Put another way, we're more drawn to the positive feelings of outcomes rather than the struggle of the journey. Most of us quit during the struggle before we can experience the rewards of staying the course.
And there is truth to those words. Perhaps that is why scripture teaches us to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) and encourages us not grow weary in doing good. (2 Thessalonians 3:13)

We see it so clearly in our current cultural and climate where greater value is placed on output, productivity. And the motivation is primarily to be "winning," #goals, perfection and quite frankly, unrealistic ideals and expectations. However from my experience and belief, I think our aim should really be excellence, faithfulness that produces fruitfulness over time. And becoming the truest version of ourselves as God intended - being authentically us.

Life is a process and journey. There is nothing instant. It requires showing up consistently and doing the work. By no means does this indicate we do not want to show productivity or be successful. No one wants to feel like they are wasting their time or doing something that is fruitless. So the real question begs us to ask, what is the measure of productivity or success? For me as a Christ follower, I need to turn to God to continually direct me in how to measure success and productivity.

Success and productivity will look different from season to season. It will vary from one task to the other. We can consistently parent our children but the outcome may vary from one child to another. So I cannot solely use external (man-made) measures or “results” to gauge success or productivity because it's subject to change depending on whatever may be going on in the environment or surroundings making it easily skewed and manipulated. But God. He is the only consistent measure or standard. He never changes, varies and is always consistent. He is not moved by anything.

How imperative that we have a consistent walk with the Lord and stay in his word in order to live productive and successful lives on purpose. Productivity and successful looks a lot like growth, maturity. Faithfulness, consistency. Transformation. Looking a lot like Jesus and carrying the father's heart. I want to be consistent.

This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. Joshua 1:8
